One Diver’s Perspective.

Scuba, Photography and Scandal

The “typical” way to shoot a starfish is to focus right down on top of it, so you can see all five arms.

Instead of shooting an ordinary shot, I decided it would be nice to get a picture with the background of “eel grass.”  In this way, it appears as though my starfish is sitting on the lawn.   Enjoy.

  1. Hi again David –
I think these photos portray the starfish more as a living animal in its natural (?) habitat, rather than as a pretty “thing” like most shots.

Great job -except that you’re making me want to spend money on better photo equipment!

    • Wow, I am not sure why I never received notice that people were posting to my blog… thank you for the compliments. And if you happen to be in the market for expensive photo equipment, I am finding myself less and less likely to pack up my gear for dive trips these days (one toddler and another baby on the way)…. So I find myself in possession of some Ikelite housing/flashes for my Nikon D300 camera (camera is not for sale but if you have one of those already…) :0)
